The Bracken Trust, a registered charity, has provided free practical, emotional and physical support for people living with cancer, and their friends and families, for 24 years. As the Powys Cancer Support Centre, we serve 130,000 people across 2,000 square miles of East Wales. We are very good at this. It costs £1,500 a day. 2024 brought significant financial challenges due to increased employer’s NI contributions, the higher living wage, and inflation. Many large grant organisations have closed until April. In addition to counselling, and mindfulness courses, we employ eight part-time therapists, Macmillan nurses, and provide a specialist library, gardens, and informal gathering places.
